Chambers attaches great importance to training and recruitment, and our aim is to provide a broad based practical education to those who undertake pupillages here. Our general policy is that pupils are taken on with a view to tenancy, so the selection and timing of pupillages is dependant on current needs and available work. We try to ensure that a pupil is given an opportunity to develop a practice during the second six stage and in early years of tenancy. As such we endeavour to maintain a flexible policy towards pupillage which is regularly under review.
Potential candidates are therefore advised to seek confirmation as to whether we intend to offer a pupillage for any particular year prior to submitting an application.
A pupillage in 7 Harrington Street offers a candidate the opportunity to gain experience in all the main areas of common law and in the specialist departments of civil, family and criminal departments.
During the second six stage, a pupil can expect to receive a regular flow of work. The hard working and dedicated will quickly learn that a good attitude backed by solid training brings work in.

Funded Pupillage
As a result of the recent expansion of Chambers we have found ourselves with more pupils this year than normal. This regrettably means that we will not be interviewing for a position of pupil to commence in 2009. Given the success of our expansion - our set number over 100 members - we look forward to interviewing in 2009 for a position to commence in 2010.
We will not be offering a funded pupillage to commence in or around September 2009. We will resume in 2010 and a payment of £10,000.00 for the first six months in total (paid monthly) with a guaranteed minimum level of receipts in the second six months of £10,000.00 (excluding VAT).
We are one of the largest Chambers in the country and practice in all areas of common law with certain areas of specialisation.
There are 105 tenants in Chambers.
Applicants should submit a letter of application, together with a C.V. and 2 named referees, by post marked F.A.O Miss Jenny Mogan, in an envelope clearly marked ‘Pupillage Application’.
7 Harrington Street Chambers are committed to an equal opportunities policy and the appointment will be made without reference to race, gender, age, creed or disability.
